Signia Nx Hearing Aid

Signia (formerly Siemens) has released a new hearing instrument called the Nx. Signia has added some new features to the Nx:

  • Own Voice Processing (OVP™): One of the challenges hearing aid wearers face is their own voice sounding strange. This can be improved with the use of Receiver-in-the-Ear (RITE) aids. RITE aids are small devices that have a wire attached to the device, at the end of which is a receiver (speaker). This style of aid leaves the ear canal open so the wearer’s own voice usually won’t bother them. Sometimes it still is a problem, and this is where the OVP comes in.

OVP uses a “Ultra HD e2e (ear to ear) binaural link to enable scanning and processing of the wearer’s own voice completely independently from other sounds. As a result, the wearer’s own voice and everything in the environment sound exactly as nature intended.”

According to a study, hearing aid wearers who had previously been unhappy with the sound of their own voice showed a 75% improvement in satisfaction when using OVP technology.

Features of the Signia Nx Line

  • Longest wearing time while streaming with Bluetooth (with the Pure 13 Nx model)
  • TeleCare 3.0: After an initial in-person fitting with the hearing care professional, patients can have their hearing aids fine-tuned remotely. The patient installs the myHearing App on their Android or iOS device. They then schedule an appointment for their hearing care professional to make adjustments. This saves the patient time and is usually more convenient than coming in to the office. To learn more about TeleCare, visit
  • myControl App: This app allows users to adjust settings on the hearing aids. Adjustments include volume, frequencies, flight mode, power on mode, and more. The app also allows 360 degree focus of the microphones. For example, if you are driving and want to hear the conversation in the backseat of the car, you can set the hearing aids to pick up speech more in the back than the front.
  • Ultra HD e2e Processing: When you wear two Nx aids of the same model, they will communicate with each other to make the best adjustments to speech in different environments. The e2e (ear to ear) connection has been improved to better work with Bluetooth streaming directly to the iPhone If you have an Android phone, you can use an accessory to stream calls and music from your phone.

Signia Nx Models

  • Pure 312 Nx: The smallest, most discreet version of the Nx line of hearing instruments. All the features of the Nx - OVP, Bluetooth, Ultra HD e2e, TeleCare, etc. - are available in this model. This model is only available in the RITE style.
  • Pure 13 Nx: This model has the longest Bluetooth streaming time. It has all of the features of the 312 Nx, but is recommended for a wider variety of hearing losses, from mild to profound. This model is only available in the RITE style.
  • Motion 13 Nx: This model has the same features as the aids above, but also includes a T-Coil. The T-Coil is used to hear better on a regular landline phone. It can also be used in places that have loop systems, such as theaters. With a loop system you activate the T-Coil on the aids and then are able to hear the actors on the stage or perhaps a lecture. The speech is delivered from the person wearing the mike on stage directly to the hearing aids The Motion Nx is not a RITE, but it can be fit for mild to severe hearing losses.

There are other nice aspects of the Nx, along with some helpful accessories. For more information, call Chris at the Dann Hearing Center, (203) 866-3838, or visit
